Aquajogging is effective but boring and frustrating. One has to work out the unique style, possible close to real running, paying attention to muscle groups. After a while it becomes a second nature and seems too easy. I used to do intervals in deep lake 10/10 minutes and 2 days later it felt just like benefits of regular track workout. Some of my friends, living in hot parts of the country, do it when is too uncomfortable to run out in the heat. They have great results in competitive running. I can only guess what swimming could do in terms of general conditioning.
