The dryer must be connected to the cold water faucet using the new inlet hoses. Note: The water connection to the dryer for steam is on the right-hand side of the back of the dryer. Check that the water faucets are turned on. Check for leaks around “Y” connector, faucet, and hoses. See your Installation Instructions if you have further questions on the connection of the water line for your steam dryer.

Yes you do not have to use the steam function. It is a separate button to push. Yes, you just won't have the "steam refresh" option. You can use it with out the steam option hookup. So, when I use my dryer, I just don't use that option since it is not hooked up to any water supply. Not having the steam feature on the dryer doesn't make any difference as far as the operation of the dryer - I just don't select that feature when I am programing a load to dry. So the answer is "Yes, you can purchase the dryer and not use the steam option."

Yes you can. Just don’t hook up the water line. Mine is working great this way. Yes. You would just need to add the water line to use the steam function in the future if you wanted to use that feature. Yes. Our dryer and washing machine are across from each other rather than side by side do installers could not hook up the water line. We didn't think about that when we bought the dryer. Works just fine without it, you just can't use the steam feature! Hello Jamie! Yes, you can use a Steam Dryer as a regular dryer, you just won't be able to use the Steam Feature if it is not connected.

You shouldn’t need additional plumbing for a steam dryer. You can connect your steam dryer to a water source by using a “Y” hose connector. The “Y” connector lets both your washer and dryer connect to the same water source – no extra pipes are needed. Learn more by watching this video on how to install a Whirlpool® Steam Dryer.
